Bio

Doru Peter Frantescu has a rare multidimensional experience: he is both an EU politics expert and a successful digital (social) entrepreneur. A political scientist by training, he is CEO of VoteWatch Europe (www.votewatch.eu), an organisation he cofounded in 2009 and which has become the go-to place for decision-makers, stakeholders and citizens who want to understand how the EU decisions are actually being made, beyond the official line. His "VoteWatch model" has inspired several similar projects across the EU.

Doru has strong analytical skills, as he combines quantitative research based on big (political) data with meetings and interviews with high-profile personalities, which allows him to read between the lines and predict international developments. He has extensive communication experience as he is frequently invited to speak to the international media, meetings of businesses and professional associations, as well as academic and NGO-organised events.

The topics he covers are a wide range of EU politics and policy-making subjects, as well as the use of big data and information technology for democratisation and transparency.

He speaks English, French, Spanish, Italian and Romanian.
