Dennis is also the Founder and Chairman of DCM Associates, Inc., a nationally recognized expert in nonprofit leadership executive search and board and leadership performance coaching with more than thirty-five years of experience working with nonprofit board leadership and chief executives across the country. In addition, he is a sought-after motivational speaker, retreat facilitator and leadership performance coach. Dennis’ experience working with hundreds of nonprofit organizations and business trade associations has provided him with the knowledge and insights to understand the competencies required of today’s nonprofit leadership.
As the former president and chief executive office of Somerset Medical Center and Foundation, his reputation as a respected healthcare executive resulted in numerous honors, including Business Leader of the Year, Citizen of the Year and achieved the status of Fellow in the American College of Health Executives and Regent’s Award for his contribution to the healthcare executive field.
I have achieved great success but what makes me unique is what I had to overcome to become successful. Homeless at 24, living in a YMCA, cleaning bathrooms for the local Ramada Inn, and realizing I needed an education and wrote every college president in my state a letter expressing my interest in going to college. Graduate Phi Beta Kappa from Rutgers University and then Columbia University School of Public Health with high honors and became a CFO 10 years after cleaning bathrooms. Progressed in my career to being the top administrator at the age of 38 of a large catholic medical center, a seven year run as a successful corporate officer of a publicly owned company and becoming president and CEO of another medical center where they experienced the largest growth in their history. Started DCM Associates in 2007 and today we are a top national firm providing nonprofit leadership executive search and board and leadership performance coaching. My autobiography “Moppin Floors to CEO: From Hopelessness and Failure to Happiness and Success” shows us all that even a troubled kid from New Jersey can overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles, make it to the top and live a happy and fulfilling life.
