Demetrius Nelson leads his career in education with the mindset of a champion: one who encounters daily challenges with students, fellow educators, curriculum, and education policies, but is determined to fight for both teachers and students so that there is victory for all who want it. As a Title One educator of now 11 years, he understands and knows first-hand the journey of demonstrating that all students can learn. He possesses strong classroom management skills, highly engaging math strategies, and a heart for the under served, the overlooked, and the misunderstood students. His desire is to assist in changing the statistic of new teachers staying in the profession between 2-5 years, advocating for more male teachers in elementary school, and improving equitable policies and practices for minority students. The combination of his bachelor's degree from Georgia College & State University in Public Rhetoric, his master's degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University, and his anticipated Specialist degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Piedmont College in November 2017, he utilizes his knowledge base and experience to educate, enlighten, and empower listeners to believe that they can become champions of change in their classroom and schools.
