Bio

Speaker, author, and leader, Dr. Gregg Mays is a lifelong public servant-leader. With over thirty-five years of service, including twenty-one years as an officer in the US Army and over fourteen years as a high school teacher, Dr. Mays has dedicated his life to developing and cultivating leaders of all ages and stages.

During his time in the military, Dr. Mays was assigned to the US Army Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia, and as a Professor of Military Science to the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) at Central Michigan University (CMU), Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Both are US Army commissioning sources. Under Dr. Mays leadership from 2004-2008, he increased the rank of the CMU ROTC program by over 60%, propelling their status to be in the top 40 of all programs across the nation.

In addition to leadership cultivation, Dr. Mays has extensive experience within the realm of athletic coaching and has been invited to speak to sports teams including the football teams at CMU, the University of Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan University, and Eastern Kentucky University among many others. His vast knowledge and expertise developing and maintaining a positive team climate and culture has driven his successful efforts as a 30-year coach of basketball and tennis at the levels of high school varsity, college club, and garrison military teams.

In April 2021, Gregg published his first book, Practical Leadership: Lessons From an Average Leader. Rooted in personal experience from the battlegrounds to the classroom, Dr. Mays shares immediately applicable and practical advice for readers and leaders of all generations.

If you are looking for an inspirational leader that will help to develop and enrich your team, look no further. Dr. Mays is sure to improve production, communication, and retention at all levels.

A world class vision is useless if those expected to bring it to fruition do not trust your leadership beyond their "paycheck." This workshop is a part of the How to Develop Trust of the Workforce program. It shows the importance of communication at any level of leadership. This program is perfect for:
*Senior Leadership
*Work Groups

Tools to help with self-awareness

One thing leaders rarely do is look inward and ask the question, "would you want to work for you." The "Traits of a Great Teammate" breakout session will inspire listeners to answer that question. We will provide practical insights to how one can best be the type of teammate others want to work with and work for.

In addition to the talk, we do have an activity that provides an opportunity for participants to put into practice what they learned in the talk. To do this activity an open space must be available.

Have you ever asked someone or been asked by someone, “where do you want to be in one year; five years; ten years?” In a word, this is vision. Vision is the desired outcome of your focused efforts. Additionally, participants will have the tools necessary to repeat this process throughout their leadership journey.
