Originally from London, England, I moved to the United States to pursue my career aspirations. I spent the first eight years of my career as a stewardess on private yachts. This role gave me the opportunity to travel extensively and connect with remarkable and inspiring individuals.
Following that, I ventured into business ownership, co-founding a marine engineering company with a business partner. Starting from the ground up, we aimed to deliver superior services that we felt were lacking in the market. Through innovation and a healthy obsession with customer service, we expanded the business, eventually entering into the government contracting space and serving clients across the United States.
After 15 years as an owner/operator, I chose to embark on a new career path, exploring a different industry and a fresh approach to business ownership through acquisitions.
While searching for businesses to acquire, I was invited to join a business brokerage group, where I transitioned into helping others buy and sell businesses. This shift came at the right moment, as I was navigating a personal loss that made it challenging to remain directly involved in the death care industry.
I worked under another broker for over a year while simultaneously pursuing education in business consulting and business sales. By combining hands-on experience with dedicated study, I earned accreditation as a small business consultant with the AASBC and achieved the designation of an accredited business intermediary.
When I stepped into the world of business acquisitions, I quickly noticed a common problem for many small business owners: their ideal successors—their children—aren’t interested in taking over the reins.
At the same time, Mum and Dad typically aren't interested in selling to an investor or corporate buyer. They’ve poured decades of hard work and heartfelt dedication into their businesses. Many want their legacy to remain within the community and struggle with what feels like “selling out.”
In 2024, I founded SureStep Business Advisors to specialize in helping retiring business owners sell to next generation buyers, ensuring their businesses remain locally or family-owned.
We are committed to helping business owners find a safe pair of hands to entrust their life’s work, allowing them to step back with confidence and enjoy watching their business continue to thrive.
