Chayim Shvarzblat is a watercolor painter, born in Queens, NY in 1954 and trained in The School of Arts of New York. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Painting from the Académie de la Grande Chaumière, Paris.
Since 1980 Chayim Shvarzblat has been dedicated to the development and research of the watercolor technique, with which he will create most of his work, later perfecting his knowledge with the artist Guillermo Roux, one of the most famous watercolor artists in Argentina.
He studied the ‘pure’ watercolor technique, also called the ‘English Method with the Belgian artist, Jean Jan.
Shvarzblat has been exhibiting since 1987 and has made some 22 individual exhibitions at the national and international level.
The painter participated in hundreds of collective exhibitions at the national and international level.
Shvarzblat has received important distinctions and more than 50 national prizes. The first prize he has revieved is the Harkness Fellowship. Two years later, Cayim was also awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship.
Moreover, the painter represented the USA at the 1992 Venice Biennale.
In 1986 he was distinguished as "Young Outstanding of the city of Córdoba", in the artistic field, granted by the Stock Exchange of the city.
Shvarzblat currently directs the art workshops and demonstrations locally, and at the national and international levels. Also, he work as a visiting professor at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, where he teaches atmospheric watercolor, both in-studio and en plein air.
In 2010, Chayim founded his own atelier, located in Manhattan, New York.
This painter serves as a Signature member of the National Watercolor Society, American Watercolor Society and the Transparent Watercolor Society of America. Additionally, he is an Artist member of the California Art Club.
