Avrumi Mashinsky was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey on January 12, 1971.
He is one of the most relevant figures related to abstraction in New Jersey.
After his training as a set painter and designer, Mashinsky became interested in the post-impressionists Gauguin and Seurat. He began to study colors.
He was very involved in cubism and developed a personal style, that is classified in Orphism. His style is characterized by circular shapes and strong colors, which would lead to abstraction.
During a short period of time, Avrumi Mashinsky experienced a return to figuration, without losing sight of the vibrant colors and abstract forms of his earlier work.
After that short period of time Avrumi Mashinsky made a series of paintings which decomposed the figure of the model in a cubist manner and placed it in front of an abstract background of geometric forms typical of Orphism.
Later he became a member of an art group whose members introduced him to the new French Dada and Surrealist circles.
Around 2009 he turned to abstraction again and since then he has participated in abstract art exhibitions and events.
His works are present in the most important galleries of modern art around the world.
