Bio

Carin Rockind is a happiness expert, media personality, and the creator of PurposeGirl, a movement to empower purpose-driven living for girls and women. Having survived domestic abuse, divorce, and armed robbery, she teaches women to fight for their happiness. Her philosophy is simple: She believes that purpose, above all else, fuels happiness—and she’s devoted her career to studying it, teaching it, and coaching individuals and teams, and to creating fulfilling lives and successful careers.

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania (where she has also served as adjunct faculty) Carin was one of the first 250 people in the world to earn a Masters in Applied Positive Psychology. She has spent years at the intersection where science meets real life, helping people leverage one to improve the other, building upon their strengths, breaking free of old obstacles, regaining courage and learning how to create lives they love.

Carin is a regular contributor to national media: She has appeared on NBC, CBS, PBS, and NPR, in Crain's Business, and served as the Happiness Guru on Sirius XM’s Stars Radio. Most recently, she became an international best-selling author for her contribution to Pebbles in the Pond: Wave Three.

An engaging and dynamic presenter, Carin earns rave reviews from the work she’s done with companies like Alcoa, AVON, EY, and Morgan Stanley, where she conducts strengths-based team building, workshops, and other programs geared toward energizing and empowering employees at every level. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, completed MBA coursework at Case Western University, and received a Certificate in Gestalt Therapy from the Gestalt Institute in Cleveland.

Happiness: The Other Key to Success

Positive Psychology is based on the premise that wellness is more than the absence of illness. Flourishing requires that we have meaning and purpose in life. This workshop provides a general overview of happiness in life and in the workplace, why it matters and a how a few simple tools will help employees be more successful at work. It emphasizes the connection between the brain and the body, as they relate to both a positive and negative mindset. The teachings are all research based, yet very practical.

Mindset Matters

The brain is a powerful tool that can lead to misery or happiness, failure or success. This workshop teaches employees optimistic thinking tools, how to effectively work through adversity, and how to expand possibilities, all of which have been proven to be successful means to flourishing. This workshop leverages the best of science with practical take-home tools to immediately increase effectiveness.

Your “Why”: Making Work Meaningful

According to Gallup, the majority of employees are not engaged at work, leading to higher absenteeism, greater turnover, lack of productivity, and less profitability. However, research also shows that when people find their work meaningful, they are more engaged. Meaning is becoming more important to every generation. This workshop shares the basic tools of purpose and how to view one’s current work as meaningful and aligned with personal values and strengths, leading to increased happiness in the workplace.

Succeed with Your Strengths

We often focus on weaknesses, but research clearly shows that building upon strengths leads to happier, more engaged employees. This workshop will teach participants to recognize their personal strengths as well as the strengths of their colleagues, and to leverage them for individual and team success, as well as for increased productivity company-wide. Attendees will take a strength assessment prior to the workshop and learn how to use the results to be effective and happy at work. This is highly interactive with opportunities for attendees to engage as a whole group, practice concepts, and, in longer sessions, to work in dyads and small groups.

Positive Leadership: How to Thrive in Business and in Life

In this workshop, attendees acquire knowledge and simple tools that they can use immediately to increase success at work and in life. We will set the foundation through the science of happiness and positivity, then shift the focus to three key principles that have been proven to increase success: personal power, purpose, and perseverance. This will include a combination of full group presentations, interactive exercises and small group discussions designed for leaders and rising leaders. In addition, participants will receive a workbook to use during the workshop and to reference afterwards to help them remain their best, most productive selves.

Positive Teams: Productive, Profitable, and Personable

Research shows that teams that enjoy substantially more positive interactions than negative ones are more productive and profitable, and earn higher satisfaction ratings from customers, subordinates and managers. This means collaborating, leveraging team members’ strengths, aligning to common purpose, positive interpersonal relationships and clear accountability. In Carin Rockind’s team-building workshops, teams align using practical tools from the science of Positive Organizational Scholarship. These workshops are fun, interactive, focused and highly effective in developing team respect, camaraderie, vision, and ground rules.

Real-Time Resilience: Succeeding During Change and Stress

Growing research shows that positive emotions enhance creativity and problem-solving skills, and build trust. However, negative emotions are so strong that we need at least a 3:1 positive to negative ratio to thrive. This workshop uses Positive Psychology to teach overcoming stress response, mastery tools, goal setting, motivation and activating achievement (topic inclusion depends on length). Participants will explore current patterns, and will apply the learning to their work, their teams, and their lives. This is particularly important during change management.

Happiness in Heels: Women Leaders in the Workplace

Women make up half of our workforce and they also make up nearly 60% of students in MBA and other graduate programs. Therefore, more women than men are entering the workforce and savvy women have a choice of employers. Women today are more financially and professionally successful than their counterparts 30 years ago, but they are also less happy and more depressed. This is due to a number of factors including integrating all aspects of life and fear of imperfection. Learning to claim happiness first, leverage her strengths and bring her unique personal power to work (instead of fitting into someone else’s mold) effectively empowers a woman to thrive. This workshop offers women practical and actionable tools to expand their success and enjoy their lives.

Positive Culture Change

One-time workshops motivate and ignite inspiration. Creating long-term growth and culture change requires repeated engagement and a deep understanding of concepts. Our signature program, Positive Culture Change, is a one-year program that includes three keynotes, one full day leadership training, and monthly webinars that dive deep into the topics of positivity, growth mindset, grit towards goals, using your strengths, aligning individual purpose to company purpose, and creating a success path forward. Consistency and extended engagement are key to facilitating change and growth, and for allowing employees to internalize and apply the teachings, and Positive Culture Change delivers this to your organization.
