Ashley Caldwell won an Olympic gold medal at the 2022 Beijing Games in team mixed aerials. This event made its debut in Beijing as the brainchild of China, as they suspected their chances were good of bringing home gold. Instead, Ashley and Team
USA took home gold in the event, and China came in second place. Caldwell also had the distinct honor of winning gold with her boyfriend, Justin Schoenefeld, who was another member of the gold-winning mixed aerials trio. Ashley was born and raised in Ashburn, Virginia. She was originally a gymnast for eleven years prior to her mom, Leslie, suggesting she look into aerial skiing. At the age of 16, Ashley became the youngest Olympian to compete at the Vancouver Games. She went on to participate in four Olympics and is training for the Milan Games in 2026. Most recently, Ashley became a World Champion in 2023 and reached the World Cup podium for the 19th time. Her athletic ability is genetic. As the oldest of four children, Ashley also has a brother who’s on a tennis scholarship at Northwestern. Accomplished off the slopes as well, Ashley earned her Master’s in real estate law.
