Bio

Second Rodeo was created to help people cross the mental and emotional bridge from success to significance. Human beings crave purpose and meaning and work is often the first place we look for it. For too many, that search has gone unrewarded.

The traditional model of retirement (nose-to-the-grindstone for 40+ years, then spend the rest of your years recreating and relaxing) has been broken for years. Healthy adults may experience almost a third of their life after the age where people expect them to retire. We think wisdom is too precious a resource to leave untapped. The needs of the world are just too great.

Add to that a global pandemic that has caused millions of people to rethink all kinds of existential issues, including their relationship to work. While not evenly spread out across sectors and demographics, “The Great Resignation” is a massive disruptor of the status quo.

Ed Rowell has been focused on the people side of organizations for most of his adult life. After developing his own leadership and organizational skills as a pastor of both large and small congregations, Ed created his own Second Rodeo–pursuing advanced training in executive coaching and organizational development.

Ed then advanced these skills as a full-time consultant with a boutique consulting firm. He’s facilitated leadership training events, coached senior leaders, and spent a good bit of time creating succession plans for closely held businesses.

Since leaving that role in 2019, Ed has built his own company around themes of purpose, identity, and meaning–for both individuals and organizations. Because these themes so often surface during times of transition, he’s become quite adept at navigating that liminal space between Over and Next.

Ed lives in Colorado with his wife, Susan, and their red heeler, Rosie. He looks forward to speaking with your audience about creating an exciting next chapter of life.
