Mmabatho Motsamai

I have known Mmabatho on professional capacity for a couple of years while I was the CEO at LEGABIBO. Over those years she has supported LEGABIBO public advocacy work as a speaker in various sessions. The most recent being when she was one of the panelists in a symposium on "the role of the media in shaping messages on sexuality". She shed light on other forms of media that shape online attitudes towards diverse communities and how there are so little interventions that tackle negativity. Using her experiences as media specialist who manly works online, she was able to shift attention to a problem that has otherwise been ignored. What was impressive was how she was eloquently able to articulate this emergent issue and ignite discussions around it. Mmabatho is a confidante young woman, who, given opportunity, through her public engagements she can contribute to shifting public mindsets on issues that are otherwise considered taboo to speak about in public.
