Bio

Since 1997, David Adler has managed a boutique Intellectual Property law practice focused on the overlapping areas of Technology Innovation, Media, Entertainment, and Communications. Specific practice areas include: Copyright, Trademark, Contracts, Corporations, LLCs, Advertising & Marketing, Ecommerce, and related transactional areas.

David has been designated by his peers as an Illinois Leading Lawyer since 2016 and an Illinois SuperLawyer® since 2012 in the areas of Intellectual Property and Entertainment & Sports Law. His articles also appear in Illinois State Bar journals and trade journals such as The ABA’s SciTech newsletter, and Landslide, the magazine of the ABA Intellectual Property Section.

David is licensed in Illinois and New York, a member of the Illinois State Bar, New York State Bar, Federal General Bar and Federal Trial Bar, has previously led the Illinois State Bar Association Privacy and Information Security Section. David has been admitted pro hac vice in federal court in California, Florida, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin.

We know that Intellectual Property rights (copyright, patent, trademark, trade secrets) and information technology systems each play a crucial role in business competitiveness. One defining feature of the digital economy is the commercial exploitation of these intangible assets. In order to realize the full potential of a company's intangible business assets, it is necessary to be able to identify, locate and safeguard their disclosure and use. Businesses are facing an increasing array of threats both internally and externally that could expose critical and confidential information. Cyber Security plays a crucial role in managing legal risks associated with interactions with employees, customers and vendors as well as hackers and law enforcement.
