Tracie Barton-Barrett is an experienced and dynamic educator, author, and counselor with a passion for the human-animal relationship, psychology and physical health, grief and loss, neuroscience. Her goal is to make sure the presentation is applicable, interactive, and engaging to the audience.
Her speaking experience includes: counseling associations’ conferences, Mom’s groups, book clubs, writer’s groups, Rotary, 55 and better groups, veterinary staffs, as well as high school and community college students. She received The Excellence in Teaching Award from National Society of Leadership & Success award, and her passion for overall mental and physical health is reflected in her desire to share ways to improve people’s lives. Her interests include presenting topics such as the brain, as well as the important role sleep plays, as well as overcoming phobias and reducing stress.
In addition, she has a specialty in pet loss and the human-animal bond. She has developed and facilitated support groups for animal shelter and veterinary hospital staff, as well as co-founded and co-facilitated a support group for North Carolina State University Veterinary Hospital clients. Her professional journey has also included traveling nationally to co-facilitate workshops on compassion fatigue for animal shelter staff and animal control officers, and her published articles have been featured in various magazines. She was also featured on “The Signal,” a Baltimore NPR program as an expert on pet loss. Buried Deep in Our Hearts is her first novel (available on Amazon) and is an homage to all the animals who have inspired her, and is currently working on her second horse-centric novel.
