Over the past 13 years Tammie has empowered women through public speaking engagements and domestic violence peer counseling. She has facilitated hundreds of workshops on forming healthy relationships, conflict resolution, effective communication, teen dating violence and sexual responsibility to youth between the ages for 11 - 21 years old.
Tammie has an undeniable passion for women and youth. In 2008, Tammie founded Mentor, Encourage, Lift and Love, Inc., a community based organization providing life skills, educational workshops and mentoring to teen parents. Between, 2008 and 2009 the organization hosted a diaper drive delivering over 4,000 diapers and baby wipes to a local transitional home in Odenton, Maryland.
Tammie has been interviewed on several local radio stations and newspapers, including Urban Views and Richmond Times Dispatch. In November 2008, she was interviewed as a Comcast Newsmaker for her work with teen parents.
Tammie has received several awards for her commitment and dedication to the community. The awards included the “Diva In Charge Award”, “The Educator Serving The Community Award”, “Circle Of Grace Award” and “Woman Of Inspiration Award”.
In 2013 and 2015, she was asked to speak at Dwight C. Jones Mayor’s Day of Recognition in Richmond, VA to honor current and previous AmeriCorps members for their dedication to the community.
Tammie is a certified program coordinator through Maryland Mentoring Partnership, a certified instructor for Premarital Interpersonal Choices and Knowledge and a Certified Conflict Resolution Trainer through Richmond Peace Education Center.
Additional training's include; Dale Carnegie, Skills for Success Leadership Institute, Girls for A Change Coach Training, Strengthening Your Facilitation Skills and Educational Leadership in the 21st Century.
On Sunday, February 26, 2017, Tammie was invited by First Lady of Virginia, Dorothy McAuliffe to speak at the National Governor’s Association Winter Meeting in Washington, DC. Her speech provided in depth insight on the importance of national volunteerism.
