Steve Garrett is a native born Californian. He studied at Pasadena City College and the University of Colorado. A veteran of the United States Air Force, Steve served in the Republic of Vietnam.
Steve Garrett was employed by Hollister-Stier Laboratories from 1969-1972 as a biologist. Steve Garrett was associated with The Mission Viejo Company as a real estate salesman for eight months in 1972. He joined Merrill Lynch in December of 1972. He served as a financial consultant in the Pasadena, Los Angeles, and San Marino office. Steve was the Resident Manager in the San Marino, California office from 1983 to 1987.
Steve established Steve Garrett and Associates, a Registered Investment Advisor and investment brokerage firm in 1990. As a Corporate Registered Investment Advisor, Steve Garrett and Associates, Inc. invests and manages money for individuals and small corporate retirement plans.
Steve Garrett has qualified as an expert witness in various Federal and State Courts and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Arbitration panels.
He is a founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Guided Discoveries, a not for profit, 501(c)3, Corporation incorporated in 1978 in the state of California, that operates the Catalina Island Marine Institute, Astro Camp and Astro Camp Virginia.
A 50-year volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America, Steve served in numerous capacities from Scoutmaster to Vice-Chairman of the San Gabriel Valley Council. He was honored by the Council as a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award.
Steve joined Rotary International in 1974 and served as the president of the Rotary Club of San Marino, California in 1990, He was the District Governor of District 5300, Rotary International in 1994-95.
He served as an Instructor at eleven Southern California and Nevada President Elect Training Seminar (PETS). He also served as an Instructor to the Governor Elect Training for Zones 23 & 24 on five occasions between 1999 and 2006.
He was a facilitator at the Rotary International RYLA Workshop in 1999 and chaired Rotarian RYLA Regional Workshop from 2000 through 2003. Steve Garrett has been a keynote speaker at numerous Rotary Club meetings, District Assemblies, District Conferences, RYLA programs, Rotary International Convention workshop and other Rotary training events.
