Shari Thompson

Shari Thompson was a senior internal auditor for Enron and its subsidiaries for over twenty years, from the 80’s and through the company’s bankruptcy in 2001. After Enron’s bankruptcy, she was an integral part of an internal audit team that developed and carried out the Sarbanes Oxley compliance program for Enron subsidiary Northern Plains Natural Gas Company.

After leaving Northern Plains in 2005, Shari built a SOx-compliant internal audit department from the ground up at another local company. She was also chief audit officer at UNO until the state budget crisis eliminated her position in 2017. She has held controller positions at local nonprofits Refugee Empowerment Center, AIM/Careerlink, and was senior grants accountant at Charles Drew Health Center.

Shari earned her B.S. in accounting from Christian Brothers University in Memphis, and is a Certified Internal Auditor. Shari is a board member of several non-profits, is an accomplished pianist, and performer of modern and traditional west African dance.
