Samuel Oppong is an actor, producer, sports broadcaster, CEO, speaker, life and business coach, trainer, investor, consultant, author, and philanthropist. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sport Management and Leadership Studies from Washington State University in 2018 and completed his Masters in Sport Leadership at Concordia University (Chicago) in 2021. In 2018, he launched a dedicated campaign to invest in 1000+ companies in 20–25 years. A two-time Forbes 30 Under 30 finalist (2013, 2020) and Inc. 30 Under 30 Nominee in 2021. Samuel spent seven years with various sports organizations (including USA Basketball, Washington State Athletics, the National Hockey League, the San Francisco 49ers, the National Basketball Association, and the National Football League) before pursuing work as an actor. As a philanthropist, Samuel enjoys contributing to several charitable projects, including Thirst Project, RAINN, and Pencil Promise. The CEO and co-founder of Unleash Your Potential—an endeavor that strives to make a difference in people's lives. He is also a proud Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity and National Football Foundation member.
As for his background, Samuel Oppong was born in Tema, Ghana, to Samuel Oppong Sr. and Irene Oppong and is the oldest of three siblings. Shortly after his birth, Samuel was separated from his parents after contracting malaria and receiving a non-Hodgkin's lymphoma diagnosis. He recovered and moved to New York City when he was two years old—returning to Accra, Ghana, one year later and living with family after falling ill again—before eventually settling in the Bronx as a four-year-old. Dragged to musical theater performances in the suburb of Albany as a child, Samuel discovered his talent for acting and singing early on and later learned how to play piano. Samuel's first acting gig materialized when he played Simba in The Lion King as a five-year-old (setting his precocious sights on a career in acting then). He followed this up with an appearance in Target commercials in 2000. Following their separation as a toddler, Samuel discovered and met his parents for the first time in 2001 after watching Fox News and CNN.
When he was just 14 years old, Samuel worked for the State Capitol in Olympia, Washington, under Christine Gregory before turning down a full-time internship offer to work under Barack Obama in 2010—instead deciding to return to school and complete his junior and senior years. After graduating in 2013, Samuel was forced to choose between acting or pursuing a college degree. He decided to do the latter before returning to the stage and screen.
