Sam Arnold is a dedicated teacher, mentor, coach, husband, world traveler, and lifelong learner. He has guided the development of over 60 coaches during his 7+ years as Training Development Director with SHAPE Training.
Sam is a native Pittsburgher, graduating from Shaler Area High School before graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Exercise Science. During his time at Pitt, he gained a variety of healthcare experiences including in- and out-patient Physical Therapy clinics, Cardiac Rehab, and Weight Management facilities.
In 2011, Sam began personal training at Urban Active Fitness where he met his future SHAPE Training business partners, Yardon Brantley, Marty Heben, and DJ Stover, and many of his current clients. While SHAPE was still just an idea Sam traveled internationally, spending extensive time volunteering, and working in Vietnam, Thailand, and Australia.
Upon his stateside return in 2015, Sam joined SHAPE Training. In 2020, he graduated from California University of PA with a dual M.S. in Sport Psychology and Performance Enhancement/Injury Prevention. Recently Sam accepted a position as adjunct professor of Exercise Science at Chatham University.
When Sam isn’t leading the charge for recruitment and development of coaches, he enjoys going for a motorcycle ride, writing for the NASM fitness blog, reading for pleasure, traveling anywhere and everywhere, and spending time with his wife, their dog, Opie, and cat, Layla.
