Bio

DR. PARMJIT SINGH is Assistant Clinical Professor with Department of Family Medicine at McMaster University, Canada and has a PhD in psychology. He has Clinical Training in Mind-Body Medicine from Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA and has participated in an intensive retreat on Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) in mind-body medicine under the direction of Drs. Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli. He has completed the live activity of Promoting Mindful Practice in Medical Education and Practice hosted by the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, USA.

He is a TEDx speaker and Excellence in Teaching Award nominee who also offers hands-on and practical mindfulness-based corporate resilience/stress management/self-compassion, mindful leadership development programs and keynotes.

He has shared his work with Microsoft, Fairmont Hotel and Resorts (Accor Hotels) group, Willis Towers Watson, Roche, Canada and other major industry leaders.

He is also a Certified Yoga Teacher, a Certified Lifestyle Coach and a dedicated Vipassana practitioner. He did his Post-doctoral training in psychology from University of Southern Queensland, Australia and McMaster University, Canada.

He teaches in the Faculty of Health Sciences & DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University courses such as Body, Mind, Spirit and Health, Attitudes, Behaviors, Professional Transitions, Praxis Curriculum, Deceptions in Decision Making, The Mindful Leader and Mindfulness as a Way to Innovation and Creativity. He is involved in MD program’s professional competencies stream in the area of self, self-knowledge and self-care. Between 2011 and 2016, he ran an eight-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course for medical students and residents at McMaster University. Since 2016, he has successfully embedded a four week modified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program into the standard curriculum of Family Medicine residency program of McMaster University.

One of his academic courses was featured on television for its unique content and perspective.

He is a facilitator in Executive Education, DeGroote School of Business, running The Mindful Leader coaching program and regularly guest speaks in the Executive MBA (Digital Transformation) program and Health Leadership Academy at McMaster University.

Parmjit has written three workbooks (The Looking Glass, Soliloquies, and Towards Healthy and Successful Living), numerous research articles, book reviews and published ‘The Health Q’ monthly newsletter until May 2008. A dynamic workshop conductor and a passionate speaker, he has held numerous health and wellness events for business and educational sector over the two decades.

Parmjit is also actively involved in community work. In 2021, he was awarded Ontario Volunteer Service Award by Government of Ontario for 10 years of volunteering.
