Bio

Neal Nybo’s life was changed by a kind act done for him while a chaplain at UCLA Medical Center. Since then, Neal has spent his life and career laying a foundation for kindness and positivity in companies and non-profit organizations.

He shares that story and others, speaking thirty to forty times a year to audiences from 20-20,000.

In 2018, along with Brené Brown, Simon Sinek, Patrick Lencioni, and others, Neal contributed to the best-selling book, Servant Leadership in Action. Since then, he has concentrated on helping organizations eliminate negativity in the workplace.

One year after publishing that book, Neal and the editor Ken Blanchard (author of The One Minute Manager) co-sponsored a kindness conference with the office of the Mayor of San Diego and the Department of Social impact and innovation at UC San Diego. Neal was instrumental in having October 19, 2019, proclaimed Kindness Day in San Diego. Mayor Faulconer said, "Neal Nybo has spent twenty years working with organizations in San Diego to empower kindness and compassion in San Diego and around the world.”

Long before that fateful day at UCLA, Neal was National Sales Director for a Music/Entertainment company with platinum and gold records to prove it. After ten years in business, Neal moved to non-profit leadership, managing teams as small as 7 and as large as 130. All told, Neal has more than twenty years in the kindness business.

Neal has the wit, story-telling skills, and experience to inspire any team or audience. Learn more at nealnybo.com

One Kind Act Can Change a Life

As a chaplain at UCLA Medical Center, I had the privilege of meeting a man whose act of kindness changed the direction of my life and career.

Using that experience as a jumping-off point, Neal introduces audiences to Micro-Actions of Kindness that will reduce negativity wherever they are used - at home, in the office, or around town.

Filled with laughter, reflection, and practical takeaway concepts.

Creating Positivity Powerhouses

Who should attend?

Managers, Supervisors, Leaders

What will be learned?

Micro-actions so small any busy manager can do them and so powerful, others will begin to follow their example.

What are Micro Actions for managers?

Micro Actions are the smallest incremental efforts that give managers the knowledge and power they need to follow through on their good intentions.

What will participants learn?

Only 33% of US employees say they are engaged at work. Employee engagement, loyalty, and trust are three of the highest goals in companies today.

But, 80% of managers do not implement the very plans they help design.

Give your managers, supervisors, and leaders the tools and inspiration they need to PERSONALLY invest in changing their culture.

This interactive workshop and/or keynote speech trains participants in three specific Micro Actions every manager can do and will enjoy doing, daily, weekly, and monthly.

Creating a Team Kindness Culture

McKinsey & Company gives this advice:

Improve your leadership team’s effectiveness through key behaviors

Who should attend?

Managers, HR, Team Leads

What will be learned?

How to use micro-actions to build a culture of kindness throughout any team or department.

What steps are employed?

There are three steps to instilling kindness at the team level.

Do Kind - Using Micro-Actions

Inspire Kind in Others

Embed Kind in Culture

What will participants learn?

Team leads will learn how to build on their own use of micro-actions to inspire kindness in those they work with. They will learn skills for firmly fixing those actions into team habits.

Positivity for Customer Retention and Social Media Success

Alaska Airlines received 700,000 positive social media shares, news articles, and live broadcasts from one flight attendant's micro-action of kindness.

This presentation helps ensure your organization will go viral for positive reasons.
Who should attend?

All levels of employees who interface with customers or the public.

What will be learned?

How to apply micro-actions of kindness to interactions with customers and the public.

What are Micro Actions for employees?

Micro Actions are the smallest incremental efforts that inspire customers to be raving fans and which can exponentially increase positive social media.

What will participants learn?

Frontline employees have greater opportunities to impact customer perception and social media opinions than ever before.

This workshop/Keynote speech raises employee awareness, develops personal investment, and builds daily participation in actions that increase customer satisfaction and public trust and confidence.

The Leak Under The Sink

Every Organization has obvious challenges. Are these the real issues they face, or are they symptomatic of bigger, hidden problems?

In an online Leadership Summit with 20,000 participants, Neal offered clear examples and practical recommendations. His presentation was based on his chapter in the best-selling Business book, Servant Leadership in Action.

  • Neal’s presence and presentation are very effective, including step-by-step, concrete examples. His practical content prompted me to recall situations and people across 50 years in building and managing high-performance teams and helped me dust off approaches I had put on the shelf. Neal’s message is very timely...the world really needs this communication right now. Life has been hard with human-to-human interaction minimalized. Most of his lessons will work on Zoom as we learn to manage remotely. Most people are stressed in this Covid environment and are very receptive to the slightest indication of kindness. Neal is a guide to conducting oneself with positivity in every interaction in a large population or small. He has caused me to learn and relearn great lessons in how to be a happier human being and spread that happiness. The Golden Rule still works. Neal offers the application guide of how to do that well. Great job!
