Mike is the founding Pastor of Power & City Church, also in Columbus. He is the Director of the Franklin County YouthBuild program and also serves as member of the Franklin County Urban Coalition. As the former President of the National Alumni Council (NAC), the governing body of the YouthBuild USA National Alumni Association, Mike provided leadership to more than 140,000 young Americans throughout the United States. Mike is also a part of the Graduate Speakers Bureau and has traveled to Capitol Hill to address the U.S. Congress on issues pertaining to low-income housing and crime in the low-income communities. In addition, he is a former member of the International Youth Corps (IYC) founded by the late Coretta Scott King and carried on by her son, Martin Luther King, Jr. III.
With over 15 years of experience as a sought-after national lecturer, motivational speaker, facilitator, moderator and youth advocate, Mike Dean has conducted numerous radio, schools, media and television interviews throughout the nation. One interview was live on FOX Television News (Watts, CA). Mike spoke on the issues of entrepreneurship, union jobs and violence in low-income communities across the United States.
Since the release of his book “What if I had a Father?” Mike has traveled across the nation and has been interviewed on numerous television and radio programs. He enjoys helping others maximize their potential through speaking and taking a stand on social, moral and ethical issues.
Mike and his wife, Val, are parents to five children, and when he is not speaking, Mike enjoys fishing.
