Melanie Dauber is a Technical Specialist who partners with Financial Services firms to provide consultative selling in complex technical environments for the IBM Hybrid Cloud Integration Portfolio.
Melanie’s main responsibilities are educating her clients on IBM’s solutions to accelerate their journey to cloud, the API economy, event-driven architecture, containerization and agile integration architectures. Melanie has led workshops and meetups for Fortune 500 companies to provide deep hands on experience with API Management and Public, Private and Hybrid Cloud solutions.
In addition to this, Melanie volunteers as an IBM Mentor for the Girls Who Code organization to help high school students develop their passion for technology and early professional skills. She created and implemented an IBM Code Academy for recent university hires to gain the technical skills needed to succeed in their roles. Additionally, she was selected to speak on the panel for IBM’s Tech Re-Entry Program focused on mid-career women re-entering the workforce to discuss similar obstacles millennials face when entering the workforce and how to overcome them. Melanie continues to volunteer with the IBM Summit Program in many ways. She mentors new hires in the program and speaks on alumni panels to help develop their skills.
Melanie was awarded IBM’s Client Value Outstanding Technical Achievement Award in 2018. She developed a reusable technical asset to demonstrate how an insurance company can leverage the IBM Hybrid Cloud Portfolio in a heterogeneous and hybrid environment while also highlighting the architectural shifts from SOA to microservices. Melanie played the role of the API/Node.js developer on her team. This opportunity allowed Melanie to put herself in the shoes of her clients. She was able to experience developing in both SOA and microservices and first-hand learn the benefits and trade-offs of technology and architecture decisions. Since this project Melanie has used these assets for countless customer demos, Proof of Concepts and has published blog posts on IBM developerWorks about her experiences. Melanie also created the client facing presentation for the project to highlight the benefits and value of each technology and architecture decision that was made.
Melanie was recognized with the IBM Cloud Rookie of the Year Award in 2018 and a finalist at the 2019 Women in IT Awards for the Future CIO of the Year Award.
Melanie holds a BA in Computer Science and minored in Applied Mathematics from Emory University.
