Co-Founder, Elixir Digital. Contributor & prev. Head of Research, Cryptonary.

Max worked as a professional DeFi and crypto researcher, before moving to Head of Research at Cryptonary. In both roles, he identified key narratives, trends, and protocols before competitors. Now serving as co-founder of Elixir Digital, a branding, web design, and marketing business, and CEO of Elixir Crypto, the research-based crypto investment and advisory arm. His crypto knowledge is outstanding, with over 5 years of committed research and investment.

His passion for crypto was ignited in 2018, falling down the rabbit hole whilst studying investment management and financial crime at university. It’s a personal mission to advance the space, onboarding the first billion users through intelligent advisory, education, and in-depth, trend-setting research. He is a fully qualified investment professional, holding a CISI Investment Advice Diploma, and studying for the Chartership.

The Impossible Task

Discuss regulators and governments sleeping at the wheel, assuming crypto will fail and go away. By the time they realised it wasn’t it was too late.

Potential of DeFi & Crypto, why it needs regulation, and what it can do for the world.

We are now at a key stage of the battle, where many are seeing the need for clear, sensible regulation, and the potential of crypto. Others don’t know enough and are stuck hoping and trying to make it fail.

Traditional ways of regulation are completely inappropriate and in fact unusable for DeFi, discuss the problems, and why it’s the impossible problem.

Discuss this niche area become a key subject, Coinbase’s Base (layer 2 blockchain allowing permission less DeFi) impacts, and how it could trailblaze the way, forcing clearer regulation.

Institutional DeFi

Look at institutional DeFi, and how Coin base’s layer 2 Base could open up the doors to massive capital inflows (due to KYC-gated DeFi potential with huge dataset and user base - I speculate this is why the SEC is now going after them, sending a message), then looking at the potential DeFi holds for institutions to make outsized returns, and the impacts this could have.

Spotting Winners (& Losers) - A Researchers Perspective

When starting out in crypto, even as a veteran in the space, success and failures often prove indistinguishable in the early stages. This is because without extensive experience (or a talk highlighting what you need to know), it’s extremely hard to quantify the likelihood of success.

People are regularly rekt when they first come into the space. It’s known as a rite of passage for newbies. But it doesn’t need to be the case. If you know what to look for, you can avoid the painful initiation.

As an investor and researcher, previously Head of Research, I have been in the business of spotting the next big trend or project. Even directing teams on what they should be looking into.

The process of finding a winner can be broken down into some easy-to-follow steps. Considering golden geese, and red flags, you’re able to figure out which projects have what it takes.

Ultra Elite Yields / Real Yields Bull Run Catalyst?

Cover previous forms of yields, how the 2018 bull run was created and allowed by yield farming, which was completely unsustainable. It was created to bootstrap the industry and inject funds and interest into protocols, and for that, it definitely worked. However, the yields were created from thin air, printing their native currency, much like the traditional world does, but to a much larger extent and for protocol level gains.

Now, we have come full circle, and through DeFi, are seeing yields that are sustainable appearing. We are in the very early stages are there are a lot of issues to overcome, but they are here, and they are attracting a lot of attention.

The real yields we are seeing are largely facilitated by the security of Ethereum combined with the low gas fees of layer 2s, which allows derivative trading and the yields that come about from it.

Could real yields be the cause of the next big bull move?
