The Battle of the Bulge

A complete, highly informative account of the final offensive push of the German army in World War II. From the heroic resistance in the Ardennes against numerically superior Nazi forces by the US 106th Division to General Patton's brilliant manoeuvres, the campaign was filled with moments of tension, bravery and genius, as it represented the last gasp of Nazi Germany. In this book, Martin King, who has been described as 'the greatest living expert on the Battle of the Bulge', guides you through one of the most important campaigns of World War II.

  • There is no better story-teller than Martin King when it comes to learning about History. His knowledge of the subject and his ability to fully engage the audience are superb.

  • No one, but no one, tells the story of Augusta Chiwy. Without Martin and his team, this incredible story of courage and sacrifice would be lost to the ages.

  • Martin King is one of the best storytellers about America's role in Belgium in World War II. His work in uncovering the story of Augusta Chiwy, the Forgotten Angel of Bastogne, not only recognizes someone whose story must be remembered by history, but has also left a lasting positive impact on Belgian-American relations. Martin also has a real "feel" for the experience of the ordinary American soldiers who fought the war. The fact that he is neither Belgian nor American only adds to the validity of his testimony. Martin has spoken to my university students on multiple occasions. I highly recommend him.

  • I am a teacher at a school in Europe. For the past five years, Martin has worked with our entire grade level to help understand Augusta Chiwy's story and the story of the Battle of the Bulge. The students love his charisma and Martin has been able to share an important historical event with middle school children. Martin doesn't do a standard, boring powerpoint slide show. He interacts with the students. His energy is contagious and the students really feed off of Martin's passion for his work. It is a tall order to not only entertain but to educate middle school kids, but Martin does this each and every year to perfection. I wholeheartedly recommend him for anyone and everyone.

  • Martin King is a remarkable storyteller. He spoke to an audience of middle and high school students at our Dept of Defense school in Germany and later that day to an audience of active duty military, retirees, and civilians. He brings history to life. Martin is entertaining, while also educating his audience. I am so grateful that he preserved Augusta Chiwy's extraordinary story for future generations, a true heroine, selfless and brave despite adversity.
