Marot Williamson is an Assistant State's Attorney in Anne Arundel County, Maryland who is passionate about the issue of wellness in the legal community. Marot seeks to reduce the stigma surrounding seeking help from substance use disorders by sharing her experience. She speaks to both legal and non-legal audiences about her journey from being in active addiction to alcohol, going to in-patient rehab, and living in sobriety and being able to give back to others, all while maintaining her employment and being a mother to two small children.
Marot is active in the Maryland legal community, she is the president of the James C. Cawood Jr., American Inn of Court, serves on the board of the Anne Arundel Bar Association and the Women's Bar Association of Maryland, and is a former president of the Anne Arundel Chapter of the Women's Bar Association of Maryland. Marot is also serves on the Maryland State's Attorney's Association Legislative Committee and the Maryland State Bar Association Laws Committee.
Passionate about recovery, Marot serves as the president of the Chrysalis House Inc., a substance abuse treatment center for women that only admits Medicaid clients. Marot also volunteers for Ashley Addiction Treatment (formerly Father Martin's Ashley) by doing fundraising and outreach.
Marot has been named a Leading Woman under 40 and a Top 100 Woman by the Maryland Daily Record. She has also been recognized as a New Leader by Leadership Anne Arundel and is a recipient of the Young Alumna Service Award at Bryn Mawr College. Marot received the Mae Abraham Service Award at Ashley Addiction Treatment for her service to other women in recovery.
