With a background in education, Maribeth has always enjoyed teaching and storytelling. Her family's world was rocked when they lost their 14-year-old son, Chris, to cancer. During Chris's four grueling years of treatment, his body grew weaker, but his spirit grew stronger. His wisdom and humor impacted everyone around him. This was the topic of Maribeth's first book, and this began her speaking career.
Maribeth also battled addiction and had to find a higher power to find freedom. This began the faith journey that led her back to her Christian roots. She also joined a 12-step program. Maribeth began speaking at faith-based venues and women's retreats. She is a frequent speaker with Celebrate Recovery.
In 2015, Maribeth's world crumbled again, when her only surviving son, Jarrod, was suddenly killed in an accident. She had to rely even more on her faith and the tools of resiliency that she had acquired. This is the subject of her most recent book.
Maribeth's favorite secular talk is entitled " 3 Things that my Dying Teenager Taught Me about Living". Her favorite Christian presentation is " 4 R's for Renewing Your Mind".
Maribeth weaves humorous stories into her talks, despite their serious subject matter. She is also a cartoonist and has used her original art in her presentations.
