Bio

María J. Torres-López is Diáspora en Resistencia non-profit activist founder, former Women’s March Florida Executive Board Secretary, and Advisory Board member. As a lead community organizer, Maria works on Puerto Rico issues and priorities, as well as Florida’s Education, Environment, Immigration, Housing/Tenant, and Prison Reform issues. She works in coalition with other local, national and international social justice groups such as The National Latina Institute of Reproductive Health, Palm Beach County Coalition of Immigrant Rights, Florida Immigrant Coalition, Miami Workers Center, Voice of Puerto Rico, Boricua Vota, South Florida Activism, Global Empowerment, BoricuActivated, Vamos4PR, Paz Para la Mujer, Frente Ciudadano por la Auditoría de la Deuda, Vamos Puerto Rico, NYDIS, Women's March Global, Florida Rights Restoration, Black Lives Matter Alliance, FUPI and many others.
