Bio

Dr. Maiysha Clairborne is a Physician, Thought Leader, Consultant, and Master Trainer of Neurolinguistic Programming. The founder of the Mind Re-Mapping Co., she helps individuals and organizations better understand trauma and how it affects the brain, behavior, and communication through her workshops, consulting, and coaching. Informed by neuroscience and the tenets of emotional intelligence, Dr. Clairborne helps leaders create an environment where their colleagues and employees not only feel seen, heard, respected, welcomed, and valued while fostering a thriving, engaged, and healthy workforce in the organization.

In addition to individual trauma informed coach certifications, Dr. Maiysha provides consulting and training to Corporations, Medical Systems, & Educational Institutions, helping them create trauma responsive, psychologically safe cultures that foster equitable environments. She bridges the gap between knowing and doing, teaching her audiences the tools to master their communication & thought habits, so that they can mitigate harm, create psychologically safe interactions, and become responsible for the impact of their words & behaviors.

A graduate of Emory University, Dr. Maiysha completed her MD at Morehouse School of Medicine, and her Family Medicine Residency at Florida Hospital. In addition to speaking at TEDx Asheville in 2022, she is the author of the Wellness Blueprint, the co-author of Conscious Anti-Racism, and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Inc.

Psychological Safety: An Overlooked Imperative to Thriving Culture

Research shows that psychological safety in the workplace has a positive effect on employee and leadership engagement and retention. Conversely, low levels of psychological safety lead to high stress, isolation, and over time are associated with burnout. When leaders and employees feel safe to be and express themselves, learn, make mistakes, contribute, and challenge the status quo, they are more likely to bring their best self to work, and more likely to stay with their organization. But what constitutes psychological safety and what are the factors that threaten and cultivate it.

In this talk, Dr. Clairborne defines psychological safety, its components, what threatens and destroys it, and lay out the path for how leaders can begin to create psychologically safe cultures to help their workforce thrive.

Listening As An Equity Practice: How Our Listening Drives Our Behavior

Most people thing they are good listeners, however, there is one thing that most people do not account for that impacts their ability to listen fully. In this talk, Dr. Clairborne explains how we mostly listen, the science behind why and the one thing that if we shifted would improve listening, communication, and leadership in all areas of our life.
