I am a 200-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher, a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer, and a Certified Eating Psychology Coach. I’ve always been an intuitive soul-searcher who came to the path of health after struggling with depression, binge eating, and marijuana dependency for most of my adult life. Very low self-esteem and an obsession with body image led me to try every single fad diet out there and I rode that rollercoaster for longer than I would have liked. I would lose 50 pounds, then regain 75, then lose, then gain, and on and on. Being labeled as plus-size, fat, thick, or whatever other synonyms you want to use was a huge trigger for me; all I wanted to do was be thin. All the while, I was harming my body, my mind, and inevitably my spirit by forcing habits and ways of life that didn’t match with my personal values.
Through deep inner work and lots of education on exercise and nutrition, my views on myself began to change. I quit weed and slowly left binge eating behind. The inherent power of good quality food and enjoyable movement became glaringly apparent. I learned how to lighten up, ditch the diet, and eat and enjoy all kinds of food (after all, food is delicious and meant to be enjoyed!). I also learned how to embrace and love my plus-size body, not manipulate, berate, and change it. One day it just clicked. I realized that this body is the only one I got, and I had put it through so much already, emotionally and physically. I thought “I will never be a size 2 because it’s just not something my body will ever be able to do, according to biology and my genetics.” In the end, it wasn’t about how I looked, but more about what this body did (and continues to do) for me every single day. For the first time, I felt embodied, and I wanted to be here. That concept of embodiment is so important because it helped me feel things I had cut myself off from for a long time. It helped me feel my physicality, my power, and even emotions that I didn’t even know I had. That’s when I understood that health and fitness is not a means to an end, it is something that I do because I care about myself and how I feel in my own skin.
That is why it is my personal mission to help others embody and awaken their core intelligence through the exploration of movement, health, and personal nutrition. beat.mind.soul. is a collective meant to inspire and encourage a healthy lifestyle. I am energetic, enthusiastic, and passionate about what I do. I want to meet you where you’re at to help you begin your own journey to self-love, radical acceptance, and freedom. Let’s create some magic together!
