Bio

Repeated opinion polls show that terrorism is a cause for public concern and anxiety around the world. Yet extremism, terrorism and the radicalisation of a generation are poorly understood and hotly disputed phenomenon. Liam combines academic study, policy research and real world experience of delivering UK Government Counter-Terrorism policy to give realistic insights into one of the greatest issues facing our societies today - Liam goes beyond soundbites and platitudes but will also communicate his belief in reason for optimism and hope.

Liam is an independent researcher, speaker and trainer on terrorism and extremism with experience in both government and NGO counter-extremism and counter-terrorism work. He has spoken on 9/11 and the War on Terror in New York City, on the impact of terrorism at the Imperial War Museum London and on youth radicalisation in schools across the UK. Liam is chair of the UK's Counter-Terrorism Policing Independent Youth Advisory Group and has appeared in the Telegraph, Washington Post and written for the Times Educational Supplement on extremism.

Liam holds a BA in History, a Masters Degree studying terrorism and is a self-confessed rugby league fanatic.
