Leonard Shostak is the principal in the consulting firm Box of Rain, focusing on helping small businesses, entrepreneurs and growth-oriented firms take their business to the next level through better management and "out of the box" strategic thinking. By digging into the details of business operations while keeping the "big picture" firmly in view, Leonard provides creative, workable solutions to commercialize and monetize great business ideas. An Eagle Scout and entrepreneur, Leonard Shostak has been helping organizations improve their business processes since 1992, when he founded his first consulting firm, focusing on better use of technology for business. Previously, he had managed a kosher food business. Leonard has been interviewed and quoted by Inc. Magazine, Newsday, the BBC News, and specialized industry publications, and has also served as an expert witness in New York State court. He is active in a several business and industry organizations and networking groups.
Leonard Shostak graduated from Queens College with a BS in Computer Science, and has led courses, seminars, and team-building exercises for Queens College, the New School, the American Management Association, the Independent Computer Consultants Association, and New York University. In addition to his consulting ventures, Leonard founded two nonprofit startups, A Networking Event Made in Heaven and Kids Play Tunes. He is a veteran of Dale Carnegie and Sandler Sales Training and is a Toastmasters Competent Communicator. Leonard enjoys organizing and emceeing events for community and business groups, and is available for speaking engagements.
Leonard is a jam-band fan who finds time to attend festivals and hear live music, including sponsoring the Celebrate Brooklyn concert series in Prospect Park. He enjoys biking around the city and year-round camping with family and friends.
