Bio

Lee Silverstein shares stories of information, inspiration and hope from those touched by cancer, through his iTunes Podcast and as a speaker.

First diagnosed with a rare form of kidney cancer at the age of five, Lee was again diagnosed with cancer, this time with Stage IV Colon Cancer, in 2011.

In 2015 Lee launched The Colon Cancer Podcast, the only podcast of it's kind in the world, as a vehicle to share stories of information, inspiration and hope to those touched by Colon Cancer. The Podcast has been downloaded in over 70 countries. In May of 2018 The Colon Cancer Podcast was rebranded as WE Have Cancer in an effort to reach a broader audience; patients survivors, caregivers and medical professionals. The podcast was recently recognized as one of the "Top 15 Cancer Podcasts You Must Subscribe and Listen to in 2018."

Lee's story was profiled in the feature-length documentary film The Messengers; A Podcast Documentary, available on Amazon and iTunes.

Lee has shared his story on numerous podcasts and has been featured in an article in The Cancer Knowledge Network. He has also been recognized in a Faces of Blue profile on the Colon Cancer Coalition website and recognized as a Volunteer of the Quarter by The Colorectal Cancer Alliance.

When he's not producing his semi-monthly podcast he coaches managers and executives who are in career transition; providing them the skills and tools needed to rejoin the workforce.

Lee lives in Central Florida with his wife Linda and their West Highland Terrier, Fergie.

  • I had the pleasure of watching Lee Silverstein make a keynote presentation at Podfest18, in Orlando, Fl, and was absolutely blown away! While exhibiting an extremely professional and confident demeanor, and with a wonderful command of the stage and of his content and delivery, he was able to truly move myself as well as the crowd. Everyone was fully engaged and you could hear a pin drop. Although he received a lengthy standing ovation, Lee clearly remains humble and committed to helping and healing. I can't recommend Lee's speaking services enough!

  • One of the greatest achievements and gifts I know about Lee is not that he is a pediatric kidney cancer and Stage IV colon cancer survivor, but what he has done with his blessings. With his strength, brains, heart and courage, he has opened the door for many people so that they can have real conversations about the three dreadful words "You have cancer". On stage Lee has the ability to create an intimate setting as if it's just you and him, and he makes you feel special, respected, and valued. He skillfully and passionately educates, engages, and inspires his audiences from is own stories, stories of others like him, conversations with physicians, other health providers, researchers, and especially from families impacted by someone who has cancer. Anytime I have had the honor to listen to Lee or have a conversation with him, I am always left motivated to do better, to care more, to help others, to give back and especially to never give up. His tremendous impact is equally felt through his very successful and popular podcast series where listeners leave the conversations feeling supported, informed, and a with more positive general outlook on life.

  • I have had the pleasure of hearing Lee Silverstein speak on several occasions and every single time he has left the room touched, moved, and inspired. He is incredibly likable on stage to the point where you feel yourself cheering him on as he tells you his story. Not realizing in that moment that he is actually weaving in a powerful lesson for you to take home and implement into your life. If you are considering bringing Lee in as a speaker for your event, I could not recommend him highly enough. Your audience will thank you for it.

  • Lee is a modern day speaker with a rare and valuable message. He speaks from the heart without a single unkind word. He shares the emotion of his story without draping it upon you like a sheet of lead. While he shares the gravity of his life's experience, he also leaves you uplifted and not only cheering him on, but also looking for ways to help spread his message far and wide to as many as can hear it. Lee is an unselfish giver to all those with whom he meets, and he seeks only to inspire other cancer survivors and their families, friends, and medical support teams to encourage them to keep up the fight -- no matter what. Through our work together, Lee inspired me to realize that we ALL have cancer; not only because of the nature of the disease in its many forms, but because it has touched and marred all of our lives either directly or indirectly. It is time that we embrace one another and realize that a diagnosis does not dictate an outcome and that that being touched by the disease does not condemn one to face the fight alone. Lee's message and his truest purpose is to share this with every person who is, has, or will be touched by cancer.

  • Lee has spoken at my conferences multiple times and always delivers. What I love most is he asks me what I am trying to achieve as an organizer and actually listens.
