Bio

Kyler Laird was born into farming. His pursuit of high technology took him away from the farm until he realized agriculture's need for his passion of computerized controls. His path continued through managing and farming thousands of acres of corn and soybeans using conventional machinery, and evolved into developing driverless equipment which was used in production on that land. In 2019, he toured the Midwest, planting soybeans using driverless equipment he designed.

Kyler's diverse experience provides common ground with many audiences and it allows him to synthesize new perspectives of relevance. He has deep, daily, hands-on experience with row-crop agriculture and robotics.

Before returning to the farm, Kyler primarily gave presentations to audiences full of children and he shared the stage with therapy dogs that he rescued and trained. He has retained the fluid conversational style of presentation required of children and dogs. Kyler eschews slideshows and delights in discovering and pursuing specific topics of interest to audiences during speaking opportunities.

My Journey from Driver to Driverless

At a time when manufacturers were mostly making slideshows about farm automation, Kyler Laird started creating a collection of driverless farm equipment to use on his own corn and soybean farm. Kyler shares his story of growing up on a farm, leaving to pursue a science education, and returning to farming to apply his technology.

Let's Discuss Your Ag. Technology Product

Kyler Laird's wide breadth of experience in agriculture and his deep knowledge of technology provide a fresh and insightful perspective on new technology developed for row crop farming. Beyond simple criticisms, Kyler joins in the excitement of the potential of a product that might need additional consideration in order to achieve its success.

Agriculture Technology Moderation

Everyone has an amazing story, but sometimes it takes encouragement to draw it forth. Kyler Laird learned this lesson through decades of watching his father interview agriculture experts, politicians, and citizens on radio. Now Kyler brings his knowledge of agriculture and technology to your events to move beyond simply reading a biography to help presenters yield the most value to your audience.

Where's my autonomous farm?

Farm equipment manufacturers have been showing autonomous equipment concepts for years. Why don't you have any?

Kyler Laird will use his story of farming and developing driverless farm equipment to illustrate where the technology is and discuss where it's likely to go.

Testimonials (2)
  • Kyler is one of the most sought after speakers on the topic of robots and farming. He's a compelling storyteller, weaving his own substantial in the dirt experience with building agriculture robots with the history of farm equipment and his vast and up-to-date understanding of the state of this rapidly changing industry. His presentations are filled with videos, anecdotes, and great takeaways for both the technical robotics audience as well as the row-crop farmer.
    Doug Marinaro
  • Kyler engages his audience with relatable emotional and technical experience. His vast knowledge reaches his intellectual peers, but is also made accessible to his lay (non technical) audience members. He is a relaxed and interesting speaker, and uses storytelling to share his experience rather than dry data and slide shows.
