Kent Strunk is an attorney and trial lawyer with more than 25 years of experience in criminal defense. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for steady preparation, thoughtful strategy, and dedication to the people he represents. His work reflects a long-term commitment to the legal field and a consistent approach to handling demanding cases.
He graduated from the Northern Illinois College of Law in 1998 and immediately began focusing on criminal defense. Early in his career, he established himself as a capable trial lawyer. He has completed more than 100 felony jury trials, including two high-profile murder cases. For three consecutive years, the Minnesota Public Defenders Office recognized him for having the highest number of jury trials in the 9th Judicial District. His approach to the law centers on detailed case review, careful planning, and disciplined advocacy, which have earned him respect within Minnesota’s legal community.
Kent's professional experience also includes significant work outside the courtroom. From March 2022 to July 2024, he contributed to national research efforts through the National Opinion Research Center in Chicago. He conducted field interviews for major surveys, including the Consumer Finance Survey and the Early Childcare and Education Survey. These responsibilities required accurate data collection, clear communication, and strong organizational skills. He values this work for broadening his professional background and for supporting research that guides national programs.
Community involvement has long been significant to him. He has supported the United Way in several roles, including serving as a disbursement judge, and has been a donor and supporter of the Boys and Girls Club. His efforts often include mentoring and assisting organizations during periods of increased demand.
Family plays a central role in his life. Strunk married in 2000, and he and his spouse have four children. Their oldest, born in 2001, was featured in a book about newborns and later graduated from the University of Minnesota before beginning graduate studies. Their second child, born in 2003, earned a degree in Archaeology and plans to continue in graduate school. Their twins, born in 2006, attend the University of Minnesota, with one pursuing management studies and the other active in theater.
He has long been the primary caregiver, staying involved in their education and activities. A family tradition he continues to uphold is taking each child to at least one Minnesota Twins game every year. He lives in Minnesota with his family and their yellow Labrador, Annie.
Today, Kent Strunk remains committed to his profession, his family, and his community.
