Ken Kao is an American film producer and media entrepreneur, best known as the co-founder and President of Waypoint Entertainment, a successful film financing and production company. He is also the son of Min Kao, co-founder of Garmin. Ken holds a BA in English from the University of Kansas and a JD from DePaul University College of Law. After a stint as a lawyer, he shifted to film production, making a significant impact in the industry with his debut film, Rampart, in 2011. In addition to Waypoint, Ken co-founded Arcana with partner Ryan Gosling and also established Bloom, a film finance and production company sold in 2017.
Beyond his film career, Ken is deeply invested in health and wellness. He co-founded Parallel, an initiative that collaborates with influential figures and companies to promote wellness and make it more accessible. Ken's commitment to wellness extends to his role on the Board of Directors of the Kao Family Foundation, supporting various philanthropic causes.
Kao's on the board of HIFF (Hawaii International Film Festival) and he’s a member of AMPAS Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
