K.A.Razhiyah began her career in 1985, teaching typical students, but later ventured into special education for more challenge, excitement and fulfillment moulding her special needs students.
Building up self esteem and confidence of the students are incorporated in her teaching using cultural shows, circus and theatre performances due to her passion and experience in theatre.
She introduced Facial, Hand and Foot Spa Treatment to create hygiene awareness for special needs students, besides emphasizing on job skills training. She was chosen as one of the panels for developing curriculum and modules for Special Education, was elected as Interviewer Panel for Special Education by Ministry of Education and was aired a few times on national television. She delivered nearly 100 lectures throughout Malaysia, wrote 4 books on Special Education, novels and story books and also nineteen telemovie scripts, mostly about special needs children, have been aired on national television.
Her papers were presented at the 1st International Conference on Special Education in Bangkok and The Digital Education Show Asia in Kuala Lumpur. She had given an 18-hour-lecture at Regular Course Human Sexuality for Children with Special Needs for Special Education Teachers in South East Asia, besides sharing knowledge at Manzil Centre for People with Disabilities, in Sharjah UAE, Hai Duong Center for Special Education, Hanoi, Vietnam, chosen as a speaker at EduTECHAsia Suntec, Singapore, International LITEC Conference 2019 and presentation in Bangkok.
She received 16 Malaysian Education Awards throughout her services and received 3 international awards as Princess Maha Chakri Award 2019 awarded by Princess Maha Chakri Award Foundation, Thailand, SENIA Advocacy Award 2019 by Special Education Network and Inclusion Association and Top 50 Finalist Global Teacher Prize 2018 awarded by Varkey Foundation, London, United Kingdom.
