Bio

After spending thirteen years in Manchester, Vermont’s schools, I could not wait to travel west for my college education. It was not long after my graduation that I felt the magnetic pull back to the state I call home where I started a career in teaching.

Beyond my career in education, I am a family-man who has had the opportunity to overcome life-changing adversities. I have been successful in several positions of leadership. I am devoted to my family, my state and community, my professional development, mountain biking and skiing.

Thanks in large part to two award winning short films about me, I've had the opportunity to give keynote addresses in Vermont, Colorado, and Texas. I specialize in motivational, public service, and entrepreneurship talks (I am also an entrepreneurship educator).

Chair of School Merger Committee

Chair of the Act 46 merger committee that is comprised of 17 members from 7 school districts. Experience includes having an in-depth understanding of Vermont education law and governance structure, planning and leading to successful and thoughtful merger.

School Board Chair

School board member and chair. Experience includes campaigning, learning and developing local policies, understanding and communicating budgets to the public, navigating requirements under ed reform.

Non-profit chair and founder

President and Founder of nonprofit organization called the Always Keep Pedaling Foundation that connected young-adult cancer survivors with active adventures, adaptive sports, and athletics. We dissolved organization after five years due to other obligations in life!

Cycling

I have completed a number of long distance rides/races as an amputee cyclists. My favorites were the 124 mile night ride, Dunwich Dynamo in England and the VT50 - a 50-mile mountain bike race.

I've given a few motivational keynotes regarding the power of acknowledging brokenness in ourselves and how such inward reflection can make us grow.

Entrepreneurship

I've given two keynote addresses at accelerator demo days in Colorado. The common message was about how to support entrepreneurs and how communities can find their "pivot" without sacrificing identity.
