Mr. Norris oversees the wealth management and investment services for Oakworth Capital Bank. Prior to helping to start Oakworth, Mr. Norris was chief economist, chairman of the investment strategy committee, and a senior fund manager for Regions Financial Corporation’s Morgan Asset Management (MAM) subsidiary. Before joining Regions, he served as the chief investment officer for The Trust Company of Sterne, Agee & Leach, Inc. and started his professional career with Mercantile-Safe Deposit & Trust Company in Baltimore, Maryland, as an institutional fixed income portfolio manager.
In addition to public speaking, Mr. Norris was a guest columnist to the Montgomery Advertiser’s business section for over a decade, writes a weekly blog, and hosts Trading perspectives. Trading perspectives is a podcast designed to provide education and unique insight into specific factors that are currently driving the economy. Mr. Norris is very well versed in speaking to a wide variety of audiences. He frequently speaks to students on the high school and college level, large organizations, professionals and retirees.
Currently, he serves on the Board of Dir. for The Literacy Council of Central AL, and on the advisory board for the economics/finance department at Samford’s Brock School of Business. Previously, he was chairman of the finance committee for the IPC Foundation and has served as both a deacon and elder at Independent Presbyterian Church. He received his Bachelor of Arts in 1990 from Wake Forest University and his Master of Business Administration in 1994 From the University of Baltimore.
