Joel is the Founder of This Feels Right: TFR, communication skills training since 2001.

Joel always brings his warmth,, insights and dynamic energy presenting to Fortune 500 companies and thousands of participants globally. Joel delivers sessions focused on influencing + interpersonal skills supported by Hollywood tips, and using your emotional intelligence.

It’s your Human Intelligence HI- build your emotional awareness, ability to listen for clues and cues, cognitive empathy, and asking the questions that Google can't answer.

When we unconsciously ask others to be ‘mind readers’, our expectations are not met or understood, we get frustrated, disappointed.
This leads to an escalation of emotions.… the project stalls.

This is a 4 step approach to having those tough conversations, lowering the temperatures that both parties are listening and collaborating.
Come prepared to participate in how you can use the steps, emotional intelligent strategies + techniques used by actors to influence better outcomes.
1) Develop the courage and expertise to engage in critical conversations
2) Understand what motivates others and how it affects critical conversations

Listen for accuracy, and NOT your assumptions will change the flow of conversation and convert the other person from resistant to willing.
The high cost associated with poor listening? We misinterpret or change 70-90 % of what we hear.
Feeling listened to and understood is pivotal when making connections and moving forward with a customer, working with a team or managing others.
The ability to influence and build trust in negotiations, difficult conversations or trying to get ‘buy-in’ starts with listening the stakes are high, miss this crucial moment and the conversation just spins!
