I am a lifelong Washingtonian. I was born in Seattle in 1971 and lived in south Snohomish County (Mountlake Terrace and Lake Forest Park) during my childhood. In 1983, we moved to Cle Elum where I attended middle and high school. After graduating
high school in ’89, I studied at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, where I completed a double major in archaeology and government. As part of my archaeological coursework, I attended two field schools – one in the high desert of southeast Oregon (through the University of Oregon), and one in Greece at a site called Halai (through Cornell). I met the love of my life and wife of almost 30 years, Wendy, while we were on
the Halai excavation together.
Wendy and I have two amazing adult daughters who have recently graduated from college themselves – Evelyn (WWU, working as a grant writer) and Kathy (UPS, who just completed an internship in a marine biology education center). We live in
Lakewood, about eight minutes south of the Grand Lodge office, with our two dogs and five cats.
Professionally, I spent the first 20 years of my career in property and casualty insurance. I transitioned to health care insurance in 2015 working as project manager, IT development manager, director of project management, VP of Operations, Chief
Operating Officer, and now as the VP of Procurement and Strategic Initiatives.
My Masonic history begins in 2005 when I joined Steilacoom Lodge #2. I am a three-time past master of that Lodge (2008, 2010, and 2019) and its current secretary. I’ve served as Deputy of the Grand Master for District 15 and on several committees,
including Public Schools Outreach, Membership Development, Credentials, Trial, and Leadership Training. I am passionate about our ritualistic work and was honored to be the 2nd recipient of the Lifetime Excellence in Ritual Award. I am also active with the Tacoma Valley of the Scottish Rite as well as with my OES Chapter (Vida #35). It has been my privilege to work with the Masonic Heritage program for Washington Masonic Services.
