Jared Miller was raised in Davis county Utah by two amazing
parents. He got a great start in life spending two years as a student athlete at Snow College, followed by graduating from Weber State University at the age of 22. By the age of 24 he was a teacher & head football coach at the high school level in Arizona. He was truly living his dream until his life took a turn.
Within the time span of only a couple years, he experienced the death of his father, the death of his brother & his wife asked him for a divorce. During this personal trauma, he found myself abusing prescribed pain medications as a way to cope. This ultimately led to a full-blown addiction which he struggled with for years. He found myself homeless, ashamed, embarrassed & alone.
Through the grace of God, he was able to seek out help & not only get clean but stay sober. However, it wasn’t until he stopped blaming his ex-wife, his family & his circumstances for his addiction that he began to truly make strides in putting his life back together. After multiple years of sobriety, he realized he had a choice to either continue to be ashamed of his past or to decide to own his story, share it & hope it would impact others.
Jared addressees the hard fact that just like nutrition effects our physical health, what we choose to accept, believe, read & listen to effects our mental health. And just like exercise effects our physical health, it is important to exercise our mental health. This is done through goal setting, positive affirmation, personal accountability, daily reflection & seeking out inspiring forms of media. This is what he focus on with any of the topics he is asked to speak on. He whole heartedly believe his calling in life is to
share how he turned his tragedies into triumphs, hoping that it will alter lives.
