Attendees will learn and implement her easy step-by-step process right away and also share these techniques with others to promote further success. Do I Have to…REALLY? Embracing Change

Most people are inherently resistant to change, but life is moving faster than ever before, so change is inevitable. Whether personally, professionally or corporately, change can be crippling if not embraced with the right attitude and mindset. In most settings, how well change is managed can either help the organization or group flourish or flounder. In this interactive, engaging session, Jan Spence discusses the realities of change, our reactions to it and provides attendees with three keys on how to deal with it. Jan will also walk participants through various exercises that they can in turn utilize to create a paradigm shift and smoothly address any changes on the horizon. Attendees will walk away with a fresh perspective on change management and actionable tools they can use right away to feel empowered amidst change.

You Can't Walk Through the Pigpen Without Getting Mud on Your Feet

Healthcare workers typically spend the bulk of their days caring for others, but can overlook crucial self-care treatment. This highly interactive, engaging and uplifting workshop will help health workers in any therapeutic arena explore areas where fatigue may occur. Jan Spence will share her experience running a rape crisis center and how she helped service providers maintain a healthy balance between work and home life. This program will provide refreshing new mindsets and tools to help prevent burnout in this critical field. During the course, the participants will engage in group exercises and discussions to increase self-awareness by exploring their own limitations, challenges and struggles with maintaining a balance between effective patient care and self-care.

Setting Boundaries – Handling Difficult People

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we lived in a world where everyone gets along & does what they are supposed to do, when they are supposed to do and the way WE want it done? Unfortunately, that is rarely a reality, especially in today's dynamic, fast-paced world. Vendors who over-promise and under-deliver, clients that won’t return phone calls, and colleagues that don’t follow through can leave even the most patient meeting planner disappointed and frustrated. In this high-impact, interactive session, Jan Spence will share the warning signs you are dealing with a “difficult” person and provide a different approach to making your interactions more meaningful and successful. Participants will leave with immediate, actionable tools that will be used to set boundaries, maintain a more positive outlook and ultimately be more productive when faced with challenging individuals.

Well, They Smelled Good in the Interview! A Proven Process for Hiring Rock Stars

Hiring the right people is one of the most critical aspects of running a successful business, regardless of industry or size. Bad hires can cost a company anywhere from $8,000 to more than $200,000 per person. While many organizations have processes in place for nearly every facet of their business, they often rely on intuition and gut when it comes to hiring staff. Jan helps leaders avoid the disappointment that comes from hiring “the one that smelled good” in the interview, instead zoning in on the ideal candidate. In this interactive, high-content session, Jan will share a step-by-step process that helps participants learn where and how to source Rock Star talent through the interviewing and hiring process.

UNPLUGGED! Finding A Balance Between Work & Home Life

In today’s hyper-connected world, most people are finding it more and more difficult to leave work AT work. Various studies have found that the average person checks their cell phone 74 - 85 times a day. Additionally, it has been found that four in ten Americans do not use all of their paid vacation days and overall leave about 169 million days on the table each year.

In this highly interactive, engaging session packed with content, Jan Spence teaches attendees how to focus on finding stability between life at work and life at home so they are able to truly relax and rejuvenate and live a happier, healthier, more balanced life.

Jan also shares her unique view that we must "stress" the right things in order to have more peace in our lives. She shares emotional and practical time-management tips to help reduce stress at work and at home. Participants will self-assess trigger points that bring on frustration and learn how to more effectively handle them.
