Over the course of the past few decades the required levelling of the hierarchy between men and women has brought with it its own confusions, not least in the realms of the masculine and feminine elements of communication, connection and awareness. This confusion at its worst results in lack of self-respect, a severe absence of fulfilment, and ultimately the questioning of one’s purpose in life.
It sounds dramatic, and it is; over 5,800 suicides in the UK alone, in 2017 and in excess of a staggering 44,000 in the United States. And while women are more likely to attempt suicide, men are three times more likely to succeed.
But there is a way through the darkness.
In response to these unacceptable statistics, and following on from her own chilling closeness to being a part of them, Jacqui speaks openly of her own experience, and with joy of the steps she and those she’s worked with have taken, to emerge from the fog and darkness and into a life of happiness and fulfilment.
Whilst it’s important to take stock of these horrendous statistics, it’s imperative we take responsibility, not only as a society, but as individuals.
