I’m a seasoned business leader, bestselling author, and sought-after speaker focused on leadership, performance, and the often-overlooked value of irreplaceable talent. Over my career, I’ve held an unusually wide range of roles—auditor, CFO, president, investor, entrepreneur, board member, executive advisor, and podcast host—giving me a rare, end-to-end view of how organizations actually function when theory meets reality.
Rather than following a linear path, my career has spanned nearly every seat at the table. I began as an auditor and finance leader, went on to serve as CFO and president, led business development efforts, became a successful entrepreneur, advised and invested in early-stage companies, and served on boards. That breadth of experience informs my core belief: organizations succeed not because of org charts or job titles, but because of how well they identify, deploy, and protect their most valuable contributors.
I’m the founder and president of the CFO Leadership Council, a global professional association with more than 3,000 senior executives across industries, and chair of the MIT Sloan CFO Summit, one of the world’s most influential gatherings of financial and strategic leaders. While finance leaders are central to these communities, my work consistently reaches beyond finance—into leadership, talent strategy, organizational design, and executive decision-making.
I host the Secrets of Rockstar CFOs podcast, where I’ve interviewed more than 100 senior leaders from high-growth startups to global enterprises. These conversations focus less on technical expertise and more on how leaders think, influence, communicate, and navigate complexity—insights that resonate with CEOs, CHROs, board members, and operators alike.
I’m a senior contributor to Forbes and the most-read author on the CFO Network, writing on leadership, performance, and organizational dynamics. I have been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, Fortune, Financial Times, Forbes, and Barron’s, and I’ve appeared on national television, including Neil Cavuto’s Your World on Fox News.
I’ve written four books: The Rodman Paradox, Secrets of Rockstar CFOs, MBA for Lunch, and The Psychopathic CEO. As a keynote speaker, I blend storytelling, practical frameworks, and real-world experience to challenge leaders to rethink how they define value, reward performance, and manage the people they cannot afford to lose. I speak regularly at leadership conferences, corporate offsites, and executive summits across North America.
