My lifelong passion for languages was ignited at the age of ten when I stumbled upon an old-fashioned grammar manual titled "Learn Urdu in 30 Days" at a bookshop in Lahore, Pakistan. I immediately began dissecting every page and teaching myself this beautiful language. Since then, I have learned how to speak 5 foreign tongues (Urdu-Hindi, Arabic, Spanish, Russian, and Tajiki Persian) and traveled to two dozen countries. I've been blessed to expand my understanding of diverse human cultures through a BA in International Relations from Boston University and an MA in Religion from the University of Chicago Divinity School.
My professional teaching background includes 5+ years as an English and Communication faculty at a Tokyo-based women's college and a top-ranking hospitality university in the Middle East affiliated with the U.S. Fulbright program. Drawing on my background as a CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) graduate, I have designed and taught courses in public speaking, cross-cultural studies, and socio-political history, enhancing my outlook as a global educator. This experience has allowed me to cultivate teaching strategies that empower learners to express their ideas with greater self-awareness and nuance while fostering a vibrantly inclusive classroom environment.
Two years ago, I launched Hassan's Language Corner, a business dedicated to helping organizations, professionals, and students alike unlock the power of language and critical thinking. I run training workshops and give talks designed to develop participants' ability to communicate more impactfully and empathetically. My DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) offerings center on topics like Intercultural Empathy, Holistic Communication, and Interfaith Understanding. I also give talks on the linguistic symbols of various religious traditions, exploring the ways they shape the way we view ourselves and the modern world.
