Bio

WHAT I DO: I am a professional who speaks at association conferences, chapter meetings, and business events.

WHO I WORK WITH: I collaborate with board members and conference planners to strategize and refine talks that fit your audience's needs about leadership, high-performing teams, psychological safety, and strategic HR.

WHY IT WORKS: When you partner with me, you win with a powerful experience for your audience. I take your invitation and trust in your members seriously. I use an audience-centered design to determine how I can help them benefit from their experience with me.

WHAT MAKES ME DIFFERENT: At heart, I am a performance consultant who learned to ask questions. Years ago, I learned from the late Jason Jennings how to situate keynote content for your audience so that attendees experience a meaningful, positive, memorable, and actionable talk!

WHAT OTHERS SAY:

"Gary did a webinar for our firm about psychological safety in the workplace, and it was spot-on. Really well done., and he tailored it to our company's vision and values and brought home messages that our DEI Council has been working to disseminate this year."

▶ Ashley Webster, Pinnacle Financial Partners

"Gary was an outstanding speaker for our virtual event series, Leadership Talks...He struck the perfect balance between providing educational background information and inspiring action. Furthermore, his preparation for the speech was highly professional and included a detailed follow-up handout. I highly recommend Gary as a speaker for any event.

▶ Joscha Hofmann, 4flow management GmbH

"Gary was a super presenter for a workshop on "Getting To Delight" in membership association leadership...Survey respondents gave Gary top marks in three critical areas: understanding of the topics presented, motivation to implement some of his suggestions, and tools to overcome obstacles to implementation."

▶ Mark Bowers, Professional Development Consortium of Hampton Roads (PDCHR)

[full endorsements on SpeakerHub]

HOW IT WORKS: I follow a three-step audience-centered design:

✔ Step 1: We work together to answer three questions: After the event, what will attendees (1) do differently in their work setting; (2) what will they say (key messages); (3) what emotions will they carry throughout the day?

✔ Step 2: Interview members who will be at the event to discover their unique challenges and needs.

✔ Step 3: After drafting the design, we discuss to validate that the design will resonate with your audience.

  • Gary did a webinar for our firm about psychological safety in the workplace, and it was spot-on. Really well done, and he tailored it to our company's vision and values and brought home messages that our DEI Council has been working to disseminate this year. The videos he chose to illustrate his points were excellent, bringing out themes of LGBTQ+ inclusion without even having to "instruct" the audience directly on the topic. It was beautifully and masterfully planned on his part to let the audience come to a realization by watching a video versus listening to rote bullet points presented by the speaker. The event was well-received and associates were requesting the recording link to share with coworkers who didn't attend. Well worth our investment in Gary's time and talent!

  • We usually schedule a couple of full days on our Wing calendar to provide training sessions to all military members in an annual basis; courses such as readiness, safety, stress management, technical tasks, and other topics. One day, I asked Gary if he was able to assist our military members with their leadership development skills and he recommended the Leadership and Influence course. Gary came to the base and delivered one of the best courses I’ve ever experienced. All participants were fully attentive and asking challenging questions – Gary was able to answer all questions with expertise. I was able to see Gary’s passion for others, which is to build people up so they can achieve their highest potential in life. I saw an immediate increase in communication, relationship, and influencing skills within those who attended the course. Gary is an exceptional leader and facilitator!
