Bio

Emily’s mission is to help empower women and children with a primary focus on women in STEAM fields. Through Emily’s career in a male- dominated industry and her hobby in data visualization, Emily became passionate about helping women get the skills, show up, and go up. Emily became a trainer leadership facilitator for her agency and on her own time, became a trained life coach and Tiny Habits behavior change specialty coach. Through her work in data visualization, she became passionate about promoting diversity and inclusion in data visualization and helping companies see the benefit of a diverse workforce, including the C-suite.

In addition to facilitating internal leadership training, Emily was recently featured as a panelist at the 2017 Tableau Conference data+women panel discussion. Other talks or workshops include:

a goal setting talk in early 2017,

teaching women how to connect via social media,

facilitating portions of a data analytics workshop at InnoMAYtion, and

a technical talk on tips for using the Tableau data visualization software.

Emily is the founder of the Tableau Fringe Festival, a free virtual conference about Tableau and data visualization which is currently in the US and APAC regions with expansion in EMEA in 2018. She is a co-organizer of the Washington, DC data+women meet-up group which also hosts data analytics workshop primarily aimed at teenage girls. Emily also founded an initiative called Pretty Strong Smart, which is a women’s empowerment initiative tailored to school age children.

Emily is the proud mom of two awesome kids, a podcaster, a fitness competitor, and Mrs. Maryland US Continental.

From Grind to Great

This is an inspiring talk that starts with a story about the transition from the grind to feeling great and the impact that had on ourselves and others around us. The talk includes includes interactive work by participants mixed with discussion on the crazy big goal, connecting with your why, and the importance of alignment (are we doing the things necessary to make progress towards that goal). This program also covers the important of the who we associate with and includes a call to action for participants to commit to one action they'll do within two day that aligns with their crazy big goal.

Empty Your Cup

This is an inspiring talk about mentoring and leadership that has been well-received. Mentoring plays such a key role in success. I believe so much in mentoring that I have facilitated mentoring matches for hundreds of individuals as well as personally mentoring others. My program does not just cover mentoring though. I talk about the the value of a trusted circle and provide a call to action for attendees on what they can do to be of service, no matter their position, because we all need support to be successful.
