Bio

I am a young woman with cerebral palsy quadriplegia who has a great passion for helping people overcome limitations as well as connecting to a higher power, especially with a Christian context. I am an ally of the LGBTQ+ community and support all faith paths that are in love and light. I have a bachelors degree in Women and Gender studies with distinction, and a certificate in Counselling Women. I have a deep faith in God and the importance of believing in the unseen aspects of life. I love being outside and enjoy skiing and hiking with my family in Canada. With my presentations, I hope to show people that they are always supported by divine love and grace. I look forward to helping you and your audience live your best lives.

Presentations (3)
create you a silver lining

This presentation demonstrates how perception is key to understanding and dealing with challenges in life, particularly those with disabilities. Promoting practices such as radical honesty, spiritual techniques, and focusing on strengths and reframing negative experiences.

Christ as my helper

This christian based presentation highlights the power of faith to overcome obstacles and to foster a positive self concept, especially during challenging times. Furthermore, it argues that forgiveness is the greatest adaptive technology when dealing with disability or prejudice. Not in a passive way that gives the impression that discrimination is ok, but rather releasing of the anger in a constructive way that will not destroy but facilitate connection and reconciliation between all parties. Simply put, I hope to teach people how to utilize their passion and anger in a way that forges strong relationships instead of burning bridges caused by resentment, through the love of Christ within us.

Working together Breaking barriers in disability advocacy

This presentation is focussed on those who want to be truly inclusive and break barriers between different groups. Particularly those who helping historically seemingly mutually exclusive. For example those on opposite ends of the abilities spectrum. That is, through this presentation I hope to heal areas of drama between disabled and disabled people so we can work together for a better world.

  • I have known Elisa Neven-Pugh since she began attending St. Andrew’s United Church in Cochrane years ago. My relationship with Elisa is based on our respective involvement in the church. I have been Chair of the Church Council, Congregational Chair, Worship Committee Chair, as well as Lay Sunday services pulpit supply, and participant in many ad hoc initiatives and events. My comments about Elisa take into account my experiences and exposure to all aspects of congregational governance and participation. Over the last few years, Elisa has volunteered as pulpit supply when needed. This leadership role entailed the following: 1 – Writing of prayers for the various sections of the service. 2 – Choosing hymns related to the theme of the service. 3 – Researching, preparing and presenting a sermon based on a message of her choosing. 4 – Leading the service process through its various stages. Elisa has been bold in her advocacy for individuals with physical limitations. She has altered pre-conceived perceptions held by some people, earned their respect and made them better individuals and Christians. Elisa’s leadership role and active participation in the church has been inspirational, educational and extremely well received. I am grateful for her presence and contribution to St. Andrew’s, and we are blessed to have her as an integral part of our congregation and fellowship.

  • I have come to know Elisa through her YouTube channel. I've learned, been inspired and have received wise counsel during though times. She is particularly adept at bridging the divide between non disabled and disabled people and fostering inclusion. Elisa is also a strong voice for disability rights and participation. I feel she would be a beneficial speaker for many groups and organizations.
