Bio

Dr. DuShun L. Scarbrough, Sr. is a nationally recognized speaker, activist, and executive leader whose work bridges racial harmony, civic engagement, and the enduring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, Dr. Scarbrough began his journey in public service at age 15 and has since become a transformative force in community healing, youth empowerment, and nonviolence education.

He currently serves as Executive Director of the Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission, where he has led groundbreaking initiatives including Arkansas’ first commemorative MLK license plate, statewide food insecurity relief efforts, and the largest MLK Day of Service in the nation. His bold leadership in Harrison, Arkansas—home to the Ku Klux Klan—sparked historic peace marches, unity concerts, and direct dialogue with the KKK Grand Wizard, earning national acclaim for courage and reconciliation.

Dr. Scarbrough holds degrees in Psychology, Counseling, Business Administration, and Law, and is a Harvard Kennedy School-trained public sector strategist. He is a certified Kingian Nonviolence trainer, mentored by Dr. Bernice A. King and Dr. Bernard Lafayette, and has been honored by the U.S. Congress, Department of Education, and NBA Summer League for his work in social justice and community development.
