Bio

Dr. Hannah van Kolfschooten (Ph.D., LL.M.) is a leading expert on the intersection of artificial intelligence, law, and health. She holds a PhD in law focused on the European Union’s regulatory approach to AI in healthcare and the protection of patients’ rights (University of Amsterdam, 2025). She is a researcher at the University of Basel and the University of Amsterdam.

Dr. Van Kolfschooten advises the World Health Organization as a member of its Technical Advisory Group on Artificial Intelligence for Health (TAG-AI), and she consults on AI regulation for non-profit organisation Health Action International. She was previously a visiting researcher at Harvard Law School, the University of Verona, and Fondation Brocher.

A widely published author and experienced speaker, Dr. Van Kolfschooten brings an interdisciplinary perspective that connects law, technology, and human rights. She regularly speaks at international conferences, policy workshops, and public events, making complex issues accessible to diverse audiences - from policymakers and healthcare professionals to industry leaders and civil society.
